Mini Lesson 2
Time needed: 25 minutes
Lesson objective: Learners will use EITHER OR strategy to support their position on a topic.
1. Instructor will introduce the EITHER OR strategy with the class using the PowerPoint . Giving examples of each type of reason. Create a poster and reference sheet of the strategy. The poster will be displayed and the students will create a copy of the poster to keep in their writing folder
2. Instructor will model and think out loud how to use the strategy to list reasons for their 3 topics.
3. The instructor will guide the entire class as they apply the strategy and list reasons for their 3 topics.
4. As a group the learners will follow the same process in listing reasons for their positions. The groups will use the strategy poster to check their work.
5. The group will present their reasons to the instructor and explain which part of the strategy they used for each reason.
